Financial
Policy
Billerica Medical & Health Center's fees are based
on standard guidelines implemented by insurances
that we participate with and include, but not limited
to: consultation, examination, diagnostic, studies,
diagnosis and treatment plan. Individuals are responsible
regardless of any insurance company's arbitrary
determination of usual and customary rates.
° Health
Insurance and Billerica Medical & Health Center
Billerica Medical & Health Center participates in
most insurance plans. Health insurance is among
the most important policies an individual can have.
Although there are many similarities among the larger
insurance companies, each policy is unique. It is
impossible to stay abreast of each patient's policy
limitations, exclusions, or changes. It
is always a patient's responsibility to know what
their insurance policy covers.
If you do not have health insurance, please contact
our office and we will gladly assist you.
° Health Insurance Procedures
Any time a patient is issued a new insurance card,
it must be presented to the receptionist during
his next visit. A new card often includes slight
changes to identification or group and policy numbers.
If Billerica Medical & Health Center does not record
the new information, the wrong insurance company
will be billed, causing denial of coverage. You
will receive bills directly and be liable for full
payment. Please be sure that you have your card
with you at all times.
Be sure to call your insurance company directly
to ask any questions you may have regarding your
insurance policy coverage prior to your visit. The
customer service number should be listed on your
insurance card.
To avoid unnecessary bills, we request that our
patients call their insurance company prior to an
appointment and ask if annual or routine physical
exams and blood work are covered. Some plans may
ask for a code for the visit / procedure. Please
provide the code V70.0.
If you find that your policy does not cover a visit,
please call our office and ask to speak with the
billing manager or the office manager.
°
Insurance Co-payments
Your insurance may require a co-payment that is
at each visit. This is a part of your health insurance
contract that Billerica Medical & Health Center
is unable to alter, as are deductibles and outstanding
balances.
°
Payment
Payment is expected at the time of service. Billerica
Medical & Health Center accepts cash, checks and
credit cards. A payment plan can be arranged through
the office manager if needed. A service charge of
$10 will be added to your bill if a patient does
not provide a necessary co-payment at the time of
the visit. A service fee will be charged for checks
that are returned due to insufficient funds.
°
Prescription
& Medication Refills
Patients are required to make an appointment to
obtain a prescription refill.
Some medications require additional testing and
therefore, periodic office visits.
To ensure that you have your medication when you
need it, please call the office during regular business
hours and ask for the prescription refill line.
Please remember that we will need 48 business hours
to address all prescription needs.
If pain medication is needed, you must be first
examined by either Dr. Joshi, or Dr. Patel, or
the nurse practitioner. Refills for narcotics cannot
be phoned in over the weekend.
Requests for antibiotics will require an examination
by a physician in the office. The use of antibiotics
will be judicious and monitored.
To avoid waiting, please call your pharmacy ahead
of time to make sure that your medication is ready.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding
medication, please call our office and ask to speak
with a nurse.
